Nigeria: Buhari to meet with Saudi king concerning oil price stability

Monday, 22 February 2016 10:53

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari (photo) has revealed plans to visit Saudi Arabia to hold talks with King Salman on how the crude oil prices can become stable.

Ongoing efforts by Nigeria and other members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries to achieve greater stability in the price of crude oil exports are expected to be high on the agenda of discussions,” he said.

According to Reuters, Nigeria has been eating away essential oil revenues and whopping its currency due to the decline in crude oil prices.

Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Venezuela had said they were prepared to freeze production at January levels if other producers are willing to comply. Meanwhile Iran welcomed the plan but refused to commit to it adding that it will increase production soon.

Buhari also plans to meet with businessmen from Saudi Arabia and Qatar to invest in his country.
