In Cameroon, Bowleven, has been granted a one year extension to the current Bomono exploration licence, awaiting the final granting of an Exploitation Authorization (EA).
The company had presented the Bomono Exploitation Authorisation Application (BEAA) to the Cameroon authorities before the formal expiry date of the exploration licence on December 12, 2015 so as to ensure the advancement of development activities.
This temporary extension certifies that the group's interest in the acreage is preserved while talks are ongoing with the Cameroon authorities on the BEAA, Energy-pedia reports.
The Bomono Permit which is situated in the onshore extension of the Douala Basin covers an area of approximately 2, 328km² and is operated by Bowleven (100%). The acreage is characterized by numerous surface oil seeps but is largely unexplored by modern exploration methods. Multiple Tertiary and Cretaceous prospects and leads have been identified.
Bowleven and EurOil work in partnership with SNH (Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures) in the activities the group undertakes in Cameroon. The government of Cameroon has the right to back-in for a 10% share of any Bomono development, through SNH.
