Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi and the chairman of Libya’s NOC, Mustafa Sanalla met in Rome to discuss the outlook for the development of the oil sector in Libya.
The meeting was aimed at increasing the cooperation established between the two companies.
“NOC has worked very hard to protect the mineral resources of the State for the benefits of all the Libyan people, despite the instability. I am very pleased that the collaboration with such an important partner as ENI continues without interruption”, Sanalla told Petroleum Africa.
The two companies during the meeting voiced their contentment concerning the recent signing of the peace deal encouraged by the United Nation, for stability in Libya.
“In Libya, the National Oil Corporation, which role is recognized by the international community, has always been our primary interlocutor. They made a huge effort to maintain the country’s unity. It succeeded in supporting and developing the energy sector in Libya in a very difficult period. For this reason, we want to recognize the professionalism and operational commitment and sacrifice that the NOC was able to exhibit during the recent complex and profound transformation of the country”, Descalzi said.
For almost a decade, Eni has been working together with NOC. The company which currently produces 300,000 boe/d is the leading foreign producer in Libya.
