The upcoming 4th East African Oil and Gas Summit is to be held in Nairobi from February 10 to 12 2016, the Citizen reports.
This next oil and gas summit is being held based on the success of the previous one which according to its organizers witnessed in attendance over 2,300 participants from 380 companies around the world and gained vital insight into likely projects and newest opportunities in the region.
Topics to be discussed during the summit includes major gas discoveries in Tanzania and prospects for oil find. The recent discovery of over 100 metres of net oil play in northern Kenya by Tullow Oil and its partner Africa Oil Corp will also be on agenda. The oil discovery at the Etom-2 well near Lake Turkana has been regarded as the best quality find in the region so far.
“This annual summit has proven to be the most productive regional event in East Africa bringing together key decision makers in government, industry, civil society and wider stakeholders who are able to discuss, and act on, the key opportunities and challenges faced by the industry and its host countries”, Alex Budden, Vice President of external relations, Africa Oil Corp said.
