Libya witnessed another explosion on Sunday as five of the terminal's 13 tanks were damaged in the blaze at the oil facility in Ras Lanuf.
According to the National Oil Corporation (NOC), at least, 3 million BO was lost and the terminal will currently be facing a long shut down.
Meanwhile Petroleum Facilities Guard spokesman, Ali al-Hassi, noted that authorities were still evaluating the magnitude of the damage.
On Saturday, armed forces related to the country’s eastern government revealed that they had performed airstrikes on Ben Jawad, (a town where Islamic State militants have recently consolidated their presence), 30 km west of Es Sider on the road to Sirte, Daily Mail reports.
Libya has lost more than $68 billion worth of oil revenue in recent years as a power struggle among rival factions has decimated the economy.
“The economy is in a very critical situation. Relations between the two governments are really very bad and it has crippled the oil industry”, Mustafa Sanalla, chairman of the state-run National Oil Corp said on Sunday.
