In Tanzania, Aminex has finalized talks with the Tanzanian Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) as regards the one-year extension of the licence term for the Mtwara Licence of the Rovuma Production Sharing Agreement which was expected to expire by the end of this year.
According to the company, the extension has now been approved by TPDC and afterwards subjected to Ministerial approval and signature.
Aminex has also finalized talks with TPDC concerning the transfer of drilling commitments in the northern Lindi Licence concealed by the Rovuma PSA into the southern Mtwara Licence, which contains the appraisal area for the Ntorya discovery. This transfer is also subjected to Ministerial approval and signature.
Upon approval and signature, Aminex plans to drill the Ntorya-2 well to fulfil the appraisal drilling commitment and apply for a 25-year development licence afterwards, if successful.
“With over a decade of in-country experience and the opportunity to build long lasting relationships with the TPDC and the Tanzanian government, we are grateful for the support we have received in extending and transferring our work obligations. We are also pleased to have signed an 18-month extension to our corporate loan with no other variation in terms. We continue to make significant progress at Kiliwani North and to focus on our development of the Ruvuma basin,” Jay Bhattacherjee (photo), the Chief executive officer of Aminex told Energy Voice.
The company has also gotten an 18-month extension until 31st January 2018 from its lender for the repayment of its corporate loan facility on current terms.
