WorleyParsons, has announced that it has been granted a contract by Assiut Oil Refining Company, a subsidiary of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) for work on its refinery in Assiut governorate.
The scope of work on the refinery project is to run in two phases over the next four years. The Phase 1 entails the development of the engineering, procurement and construction tender package as well as the assessment and evaluation of bids while the Phase 2 includes the management and supervision of the engineering, procurement and construction contractors all through the design and procurement stages as well as on site in Assiut in the course of the construction stage.
“We are delighted that ASORC has selected us to work on this project which will help support Egypt’s demands for petroleum products. We look forward to its successful delivery and completion,” Krish Iyer, the location director for UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Iraq, told Trade Arabia.
The Assiut refinery was set up in 1984 to feed the Upper Egypt region’s petroleum product needs. This new project will bring about the construction of a new Naphtha complex which will comprise of a Naphtha Hydrotreater Unit, a CCR Reforming unit and an Isomerization Unit, which will provide high octane gasoline and different grades of gasoline.
