Zimbabwe: Intratek could lose the Gwanda plant’s building contract

Wednesday, 02 May 2018 21:15

Zimbabwe plans to review the contract with local company Intratek for the construction of the 100 MW Gwanda solar power plant. According to The Herald, Josh Chifamba (photo), the executive director of Zesa Holdings, announced a meeting with the company to discuss upcoming changes.

Indeed, the company did not start the prior works for this $200 million project since 2015,  although it received the first tranche of $5 million. Let’s note that though works are underway, public authorities’ decision would not be influenced.

“That completion of the work will not influence the legal process we are taking. It does not preclude ZPC to cancel the contract if it so desires. This is work we had paid for which he is doing. This does not whitewash his previous sins,” she said.
