Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority NREA ordered wind power group Gamesa wind turbines as part of construction project of two wind farms with a combined capacity of 160 MW.
The first order involves the supplying, installation and delivery of 60 of Gamesa’s G80 turbines with a capacity of 2 MW each. The construction of the 120 MW plant was financed by Spanish government, via its Fund for International Business Expansion (FIEM). The turbines will be delivered starting from October 2016 and the plant during Q1 2017.
The second order calls Gamesa to supply 20 turbines of 2 MW to the existing wind plant which has an installed capacity of 200 MW. The turbines will be delivered in Q4 2016 and commissioning will be done in early 2017. The expansion will be funded by German Development Bank (KfW).
In addition to supply and installation contracts, Gamesa will also establish infrastructures necessary to operate both wind plants which it will maintain for three years.
