Nigeria: Arrow and University of Ilorin to build 500 MW solar plant within six months

Monday, 09 May 2016 21:50

American Developer Arrow Capital and the University of Ilorin in Nigeria have partnered to build a solar plant. With a capacity of 500 LW, construction of the infrastructure should start this month and be completed after six months.

The plant will be providing 4 MW to the university where it will be located. Remaining output will be sold to the Kano and Lagos states, and other states interested.

Construction of the plant comes on time as Nigeria currently has an installed capacity of 5,000 MW, of which 2,500 MW available in average, for a demand of 12,000 MW. Government is presently implementing a reform within the sector which, it hopes, should bring the country’s capacity to 10,000 MW, by 2019.
