In Nigeria, Power Distribution Company, Ikeja Electric Plc has launched with Deloitte a whistle blowing platform to allow customers report theft and other illegal activities across its network. Launched last week, the platform which will be independently managed by Deloitte, one of Nigeria’s leading professional service companies.

Through this platform, clients can confidently report issues such as fraud, bribery, energy theft through illegal connections, amongst others. This will be done anonymously using multiple channels including email, a toll free hotline, amongst others.

This platform is one of the many measures put in place to promote transparency and accountability, according to the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Felix Ofulue.

“By connecting our customers directly with the professional services provider responsible for the management of the platform, we have provided a means for us to work together with the customers to expose all forms of illegal and unethical behavior on our network,” he said.

Ofulue, however, assures all willing whistle blowers that adequate measures have been put in place to protect their identities.
