Morocco gets its first solar powered and mobile desalination plant

Monday, 16 November 2015 13:31

Green Energy Park now hosts the first solar-powered mobile desalination plant made in Morocco. The structure which produces approximately 5m3 of water per hour is made of 57 solar panels and 18 thermal panels which provide all the energy it needs to work.

In addition to being mobile and energy-sufficient, it can be quickly installed, which makes it ideal for isolated populations and small community infrastructure such as schools.

The production of this station comes as part of the Innotherm I project which goal is to set up 100% Moroccan solutions from solar energy.

The plant is the result of the partnership between the National Centre for Energy, Sciences and Nuclear Techniques (CNESTEN), the Moulay Ismail and Hassan II universities, the Moroccan companies LSA-Industries and Tubes & Profil and the solar platform Alméria in Spain.
