Algeria’s minister of Energy, Salah Khebri reached out to state-owned lighting systems manufacturer Rouiba Eclairage encouraging him to invest in the renewable energies sector. During a surprise visit to the firm, the minister asked its top brass to “extend its range of products to systems used in the renewable energies industry and to integrate the renewable energies in its national expansion plan “.

Emphasizing on public authorities intent to massively develop this type of energies, he asked the company to get to support public efforts in this direction. Salah Khebri also reaffirmed its ministry’s commitment to supporting state-owned companies towards achieving this objective.

Algeria indeed plans to install, by 2030, 22 000 MW of renewable energies. At that time, this capacity will represent 27% of national energy capacity.
