Three plants with a combined capacity of 484 MW will soon be built in Thiès. These facilities include Dias solar plant (25 MW), Taïba Ndiaye wind farm (159 MW) and Mboro coal-fired plant which can produce 300 MW.

This information, according to Sud Quotidien, was revealed by Mahammed Boun Abdallah Dionne, the Prime Minister, during the inauguration of Ten Merina solar plant (30 MW) which is now named Cheikh Anta Diop solar plant.

The Cheikh Anta Diop solar plant, which is an innovative and revolutionary project, is now a priority for the energy mix’s development in Senegal. It enables our government to widely exceed the actual 20% share of renewable energy in the national energy mix,” said Karim Ndiaye, the plant’s manager, during the ceremony.
