Electrification rates across 24 African nations according to World Economic Forum

Five countries are placed equal at the top of the ranking of African nation with the best electrification rates, according to the Global Energy Architecture Performance Index Report 2017 released on March 22 by the World Economic Forum and Accenture Strategy.

The five countries which are located in Northern Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia) are among the 69 nations out of the 127 surveyed, where electrification rate has reached 100%.

South Africa (99th worldwide) comes behind the five nations with an electrification rate of 85.40%.

Next are Ghana (64.06%), Senegal (56.50%), Cote d’Ivoire (55.80%) and Nigeria (55.60%).

Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia, Mozambique and Tanzania close the ranking, both in Africa and worldwide, with electrification rates below 27%.
