German manufacturer Siemens, after providing turbines of the Noor I solar plant, has been selected to manufacture that of Noor II and Noor III.
“I am very happy that Siemens was chosen to provide its expertise for the Noor I, II and III power plants for which we are also going to provide turbines and which will insure the reduction of Morocco’s energy dependency,” said Slim Kchouk, CEO Siemens Morocco.
Turbines will be brought to Morocco by land, by the end of 2016.
Noor II and III with respective capacities of 150 MW and 200 MW are solar thermal plants that will be built under the Noor solar project which, once completed, will be the world’s biggest solar complex. Noor II will be constructed using cylindrical-parabolic captors (sunlight is captured by semi-cylindrical mirrors that follow its trajectory) while Noor III will use the concentrated solar tower technology (a tower that concentrates light beam and reflects on mirrors around it).
