In Egypt, three power plants built by Siemens in Beni Suef, Brulus and the new administrative capital under construction, will be inaugurated next month by the President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi himself, Sources close to the matter told Daily News.
The three facilities, which have a combined capacity of 14,400 MW, are 97% complete and already supplied 12,800 MW to the national grid.
Beni Suef plant has a capacity of 4, 000 MW, while that of the new administrative capital has a power generating capacity of 5, 600 MW and 3, 200 MW for the Brulus plant.
Let’s note that the electricity generated by the facilities will be sold to the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC).
Siemens designed, built and funded the project (estimated at €6 billion) thanks to about €4.1 billion loans from German banks KfW, HSBC and Deutsche Bank. The balance was obtained from Arab banks (in the local currency) to pay local companies involved in the projects.
