Guinea Bissau just benefited from a 19 billion FCFA grant from the African Development Bank (ADB). This funding is to be used to improve power supply in the country, Xinhua agency reports citing an official source.
This grant is to be injected into projects related to the transportation of electricity from the Sambangalou and Kaleta dams, respectively in Senegal and Guinea, to Bissau, the capital city. It is a sealing stone to the various commitments previously taken by partners to Guinea Bissau’s development during the country’s meeting in Bruxelles eight months earlier.
Currently experiencing a power crisis, Guinea Bissau has decided to remediate by taking significant action. To this end, the country recently signed with Société Africaine des Biocarburants et des Energies Renouvelables (SABER) an agreement to benefit from its technical assistance towards the implementation of its Scheme for Valorization of Renewable Energies (PROVER/GB) which should allow for the installation of 32 MW.
