Mozambique: GLAE to set a 250 MW gas-power plant in the North

Tuesday, 22 May 2018 18:00

Mozambique’s government signed with Great Lakes Africa Energy (GLAE) an agreement whereby GLAE will construct a 250 MW gas-powered plant in the country’s Northern region.

The facility estimated at $400 million will run under domestic natural gas. According to the agreed terms, the company will develop, finance, build, and operate the infrastructure.

“Mozambique has considerable renewable and conventional energy resources and is fast becoming a significant energy producer. Our Government’s chief priority is to ensure a secured and reliable energy supply for the people of Mozambique. This is why the project is so important. In GLAE we have found a reliable partner which will help us deliver this power plant” Bruno Senguaio, member of the energy minister’s office, said.

Let’s note that once commissioned, this facility will be one of the country’s largest plants.
