President John Mahama declared he has finally dealt with the power crisis which Ghana has been experiencing for four years now. Addressing Parliament, he said: “I stood before this very august house and promised to fix the power sector deficit that at the time had become a significant constraint to the economic growth and a destruction to Ghanaians both home and at work”. Adding that it was no easy task, he said: “We achieved the fastest mobilization of emergency power in the history of Ghana.”
Truly, with the Kpone thermal plant established, 220MW were added to the national grid. 110MW were added via the Takoradi thermal plant, 220MW with the Karpower floating units and 250MW will be with the gas plants that AMERI is building. Additionally, phase 2 of Asogli gas plant is to provide 180MW as soon as gas will be available.
