Wednesday, 31 January 2018 18:55

Tanzanian government should soon start the third stage of its rural electrification program, resulting in the electrification of about 4,000 villages.

The information was stated at National Assembly by the deputy energy minister, Subira Mugambo. “There are a few projects that had been worked on. I can confirm that some of the projects in Geita and Mwanza have been completed and the areas receive electricity but most of the areas had not started,” she said.

The country’s goal is to provide all rural communities with electricity, by 2021. The above-mentioned phase, will be carried out in two steps. The first one will involve exactly 3,559 villages and the second, which will be launched in April 2019 will reach 4,314 villages.
