(Ecofin Agency) - During the Summit on the policy of “local content” which concluded yesterday in Libreville, the American gas and oil drilling and equipment company, Baker Hughes, indicated that it already applies this principle, through job nationalisation.
“We want to prove to our partners, here in Gabon, to the authorities in charge that we have already started putting in place the process of local content. And above all the nationalisation of jobs. There were recommendations last year in relation to the percentage of employment of Gabon nationals in the oil sector companies. The government requests that 80% of workers be nationals. But at Baker, we are at around 93%”, explained Simplice Ebinda, Human Resources Director for the company. He further added that the goal was to reach 96% by 2016.
Baker Hugues has been present in sub-Saharan Africa in Congo and Gabon for over 30 years. The American multinational company offers solutions covering the whole lifecycle of hydrocarbons. Its reservoirs management services aim to optimise the economic potential of resources.
