Germany lauds Tunisian strategy on renewable energies

Thursday, 27 August 2015 22:05

Germany, approving of the Tunisian policy with regards to renewable energies, wishes to broaden the energy cooperation between the two countries. “Germany applauds the strategy adopted by Tunisia to promote renewable energies. It is even considering strengthening its partnership with the country in this sector” claimed Thomas Silberhorn, the German State Secretary for Development Cooperation.

As part of the expansion of this cooperation, a pilot study for the installation of a photovoltaic plant is currently under way. The infrastructure of 10 MW to be implemented in Tozeur, will be the largest of the country.

The Federal State of Germany is committed to exhorting its private sector to invest in Tunisia in various sectors. “We believe Tunisia has an auspicious environment for investment and has a qualified and young labour. This country is for Germany and Europe in general, a destination of great potential. We therefore want our companies to come and invest, which will also be a source of job creation for the local population” added Mr. Silberhorn.
