Masen partners CEA and Alsen to develop solar energy in Morocco

Thursday, 30 July 2015 13:44

Masen (the Moroccan solar energy agency), CEA (French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Commission) and the French group Alcen are now committed to the development of solar energy in the kingdom. By means of a group of agreements, these companies will develop R&D and finance innovative projects.

First actions of this plan, Masen acquired half of the capital of the company Alsolen for € 30 million, the other half being held by Alcen. The young company devoted to the activities of Alcen in solar energy is well known for its thermal energy plants with Fresnel mirrors. Moreover, Masen and CEA are in partnership to set up a solar energy research laboratory.

Masen, a public Moroccan company, will go over and above its initial mandate which is to ensure the kingdom's energy security, as Alsolen looks further towards renewable energies for sub-Saharan Africa.
