Wednesday, 02 March 2016 11:35

Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) has announced that it has extended the Joint Survey Agreement with PetroSeychelles to explore hydrocarbon potentials in offshore Seychelles.

Geological and geophysical surveys which includes seismic surveys was carried out by JOGMEC and PetroSeychelles from August 30, 2013 under an exploration licence awarded by the Government of Seychelles.

Upon completion on February 29, 2016, the companies felt an extra survey was needed and the Government of Seychelles, PetroSeychelles, and JOGMEC decided to prolong the existing exploration licence for another 2 years. Due to this, JOGMEC also prolonged its Joint Survey Agreement with PetroSeychelles for 2 more years.

According to Energy-pedia, with the aim of securing the constant supply of natural resources and energy to Japan, JOGMEC plans to keep on exploring for hydrocarbon potentials via geological and geophysical surveys and establish business opportunities for companies from Japan.
