CGG, has agreed with the ‘’Direction Generale des Hydrocarbures’’ (DGH) of Gabon to secure and process more than 25,000 km² of new 3D seismic data over the vacant and licenced blocks in the South Basin to allow for the evaluation of the prospective area.
According to the company, the initial ultra-fast-track dataset produced onboard a vessel performing a seismic survey offshore Gabon is way beyond expectations.
The fast-track pre-stack time-migrated dataset for this survey is available together with sample pre-stack depth reverse time-migrated (RTM) data in one area. The final RTM for the whole of the survey area will be available this summer, the company said.
The objective of the survey is to image possible prospective structures at base salt level and not doing damage to the shallower post-salt image quality.
Data from the survey form the highlight of an integrated geoscience project which will comprise of interpretation of the gravity data acquired with the seismic to examine the deep structure of the basin, study of the major wells in the area, complete seismic interpretation in the deep field, RigZone reports.
