Eni has announced that it has successfully completed the drilling of the fifth well, Zohr 5x in the Zohr structure.
According to the company, Zohr 5x was drilled to the final total depth of 4,350 m and confirmed the potential of the field at 30 Tcf OGIP.
Located in 1,538 m of water depth and 12 km south west from the discovery well Zohr 1x, the well confirmed the presence of a carbonatic reservoir and gas accumulation in the South-Western part of the Zohr mega-structure. It came across about 180 metres of continuous hydrocarbon column in the carbonate sequence with excellent reservoir features.
Eni added that the well has successfully undergone testing, opening 90 meters of reservoir section to production.
Data gathered during the test revealed the deliverability of the reservoir, corresponding to the Zohr 2 well test, producing over 50 Mmscf/d restricted only by the limitations of the drilling ship production facilities. Upon commencement of production, the well is estimated to pump up to 250 Mmscf/d.
Drilling campaign will continue this year with the drilling of the sixth well that will guarantee the enhanced initial production rate of 1 bcf per day.
“The steady progress of the project execution is confirming the schedule expected to reach the first gas by the end of 2017,” Eni said.
The Italian Company, through its subsidiary IEOC Production, holds a 100% interest in the Shorouk Block where Petrobel is operating the activities on behalf of Petroshorouk Company, a joint venture between IEOC and the state company Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), Energy-pedia reports.
