Spectrum on Wednesday announced that it has concluded its 2D seismic program offshore south Somalia after it acquired 20,582.75 line km of data.
The company had signed a Multi-client master co-operation contract with the Federal Government of Somalia in September last year to secure about 28,000 km of long offset 2D seismic data offshore Somalia.
According to the Multi-Client seismic data specialist, this new acquisition completes the 20,000 km seismic that was initially acquired in 2014. The two seismic will pave the way for the in-depth study of hydrocarbon prospectivity in the country.
Spectrum has commenced the processing of the data and the interpretation will begin in Q3 of this year and the results will be announced by the Federal Government. This work will reveal the resources, and whether oil or gas is present underneath the sea-floor of the Indian Ocean, Offshore Energy Today reports.
