Egypt’s Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) has completed the drilling of the fourth well in Zohr gas field in Mediterranean Sea, the Company’s Chairman revealed.

According to Mohamed El Masry, EGAS is dedicated to the drilling schedule of Eni.

He added that the conclusion of drilling works at the fourth well will fast track the coming on stream of the Zohr gas field in 2017 with a capacity of about one billion cubic feet per day.

El Masry noted that drilling works at the fifth well is to begin instantly so as to finish drilling the sixth well on the Zohr field whose potential capacity is estimated at 30 Tcf of gas, Energy Egypt reports.

Eni plans to conclude the Phase 1 of the Zohr development lease, which includes drilling six gas wells, by the end of 2016 and has started the execution of a treatment plant for the gas produced from the Zohr field, estimated to be 1billion BTU per day in phase 1.

The phase 1 of the Shorouk plant will be concluded by December 2017 after which production will begin steadily.

The Italian company is aiming to conclude the connection of Zohr gas field production in two phases. The phase 1 includes preparing four wells for production by mid-2018, and the second phase will add 16 wells to production by 2020.
