In Sao Tome and Principe, the National Oil Agency has announced that Kosmos Energy and Galp Energia will conduct seismic surveys in three oil blocks in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the country in January 2017.
This declaration comes six days after Kosmos Energy obtained 65% of the interest held by Equator Exploration in block 12 of the Exclusive Economic Zone of Sao Tome and Principe, where Galp is the operator of block 6 in partnership with Kosmos.
“The 3D seismic survey of blocks 6, 11 and 12 is expected to begin in early January 2017 and to take six months,” Sousa Pontes, Director of the National Oil Agency said
He added that the area to be covered by the operation is about 12,799 km².
Apart from the exclusive zone, Sao Tome and Principe also has a joint exploration zone with Nigeria, under a political pact entered into in February 2011, Macauhub news reports.
