SOCO International Plc., on Monday revealed that it has commenced the drilling of the Baobab Marine-1 Exploration well offshore the Republic of Congo
According to the company, the drilling began on February 5, 2016 in the Mer Profonde Sud Block located in the Lower Congo Basin, offshore Congo (Brazzaville)
The well which will be spud on the RR Prospect, is aiming fixed early Miocene channel complexes that are map able in the seismic data, outlined by stratal breaks and differences in seismic amplitudes.
Initial exploration drilling aimed different types of prospects, and the Baobab Marine-1 well is exceptionally comparative to all wells in and near the Block. The well aims for gross 50% probable reserve prospective recoverable resource of c.330 million BO.
The deepwater drillship, Noble Globetrotter II, is to be used to drill the well which is expected to last for 25 to 35 days, with an intended depth of about 3,400 metres below mean sea level, Energy-pedia reports.
