The Nigerian Marine Platforms Limited (MPL) alongside Project Development International (PDi) has acquired a £1.5 million contract for the provision of technical support to Chevron’s third phase of the Agbami field transport, installation and pre-commissioning project.
PDi was selected by MPL to assist with onshore and offshore installation engineering works on the Agbami field, which will be completed in Q2 of 2016. The field is situated in central Niger Delta, western coast of Nigeria where MPL has deployed the hired Polar Onyx as well as other equipment aimed at performing the offshore installation works.
“We have established a strong working relationship with PDi and value the dedicated teams’, engineering support and track record here in Nigeria. At MPL we adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and strive to exceed the expectations of our clients through integrity, maintaining a very strict safety culture and quality service delivery, standards we know are shared with the team at PDi”, Taofik Adegbite, MPL’s CEO told Subsea World News.
The two companies have agreed that PDi will work together with MPL’s engineering team in Lagos to provide project and structural engineering services along with installation analysis and offshore support. Moreover, when necessary, PDi is to arrange for specialist support in pre-commissioning, survey, geotechnical and procurement.
“On this project PDi will provide a dedicated project engineering team in MPL’s office in Lagos who will work on a rotational basis with the indigenous MPL engineering team and be supported by project management and discipline engineering teams in the UK. The Lagos team will include individuals with Structural Engineering and Installation Analysis capability”, Mark Gillespie, PDi’s MD said.
