FAR Limited in its update on Thursday announced that Cairn Energy-operated SNE oil field appraisal well SNE-2 which began drilling in the Senegal Sangomar Deep Offshore Block on November 4, reached its planned TD of 2,825m TVD on December 3, 2015.
Coring and wire line logging operations have also been completed on the appraisal well. According to Energy-pedia, preparations are underway to test the well.
Meanwhile, Cairn Energy also informed FAR that the acquisition of the 3D seismic survey over the Sangomar and Rufisque blocks has been completed. The Polarcus Adira seismic vessel which was used for the operation has also been discharged and final processed products from the survey will be delivered in Q3 of 2016. “We are very pleased with the SNE-2 well progress achieved to date by the Ocean Rig Athena and the drilling management team. Overall, SNE-2 has been drilled, cored and logged ahead of schedule and we are now looking forward to delivering results from the evaluation program”, Cath Norman (photo) FAR’s MD said.
Cairn Energy is the Operator of the SNE oil field alongside ConocoPhillips, FAR and Petrosen with 40%, 35%, 15% and 10% respectively.
