NABIRM, an Exploration and Production company in conjunction with its partner NAMCOR, has announced the completion of the interpretation of 2D Seismic Survey on Block 2113A situated in the Walvis Basin, offshore Namibia.

The Seismic interpretation was carried out on the block which covers 5,750km² (3,600km² offshore and 2,150 km² onshore) by ION Geophysics a U.S based company. It was aimed at identifying important depositional features, structural features as well as anomalous reflection packages.

NABIRM had on March 20, 2015, declared the conclusion of the 2D Seismic Survey campaign which included Gravity and Magnetic Data acquisition on the Block. The Campaign contract was awarded to BGP International who used a 3D vessel M/V BGP Pioneer to acquire the data.

According to Olayinka Arowolo, the CEO of NABIRM (operator of the block), the company still has significant works to do and more studies to be carried out with shallow water depths and shallow drilling depths.

“ION’s interpretation of Nabirm’s data; the established oil kitchen in the Walvis Basin confirming light 40 API degrees gravity oil; the oil shows onshore on Eco Atlantic’s Daniel Block which prompted the drilling of the Toscanini Well; and the slicks evident in the region from the Fugro Oil Slick study that was completed for Eco Atlantic, all indicate that Exploration in blocks adjacent to PEL 58 identifies an 'oil mature fairway'. We are intrigued by this interesting block” he said.

Mr. Arowolo added that hydrocarbons generated within the fairway will be drifting eastward and up-dip toward Block 2113A. NABIRM is presently offering the Block 2113A for farm-out, Energy-pedia reports.
