After its recent successes with Zohr and Nidoco NW, Eni has announced it has been granted two new exploration licences as an outcome of the 2015 EGAS bid round; North El Hammad and North Ras El Esh situated offshore Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea.
The two new agreements are subsequent to the recent deep water Karawan and North Leil blocks awarded to Eni, Energy-pedia reports.
The Oil and Gas Company has a 37.5% participating interest and operatorship in North El Hammad where it works in partnership with BP which has 37.5% interest and Total which has 25% interest respectively. As for North Ras El Esh, the Italian company has a 50% participating interest on the block and works in collaboration with BP (50%) which is to act as operator.
The blocks (which covers an area of 1,389 and 1,927 klm²) which face the Nile Delta and are situated Southwest of the Temsah area and West of the Baltim area, are to be managed by Eni’s affiliated company IEOC (International Egyptian Oil Company).
Having assets in 79 countries, Eni is currently the world's 11th largest industrial company and Egypt’s key oil producer since 1954 with approximately 190,000 boe/d.
