Tullow Oil and Swala Energy have revealed that the new work programme presented to the Kenyan government has been approved.
The work programme involves the implementation of a Full-Tensor Gravity (FTG) Survey on Block 12B in order to perfect the location of the exploration well and in so doing increase its chances of success.
The government of Kenya approved the new work programme on March 10, 2016. The partners now have till 16th of August 2017 to drill the 12B exploration well.
The FTG work will be performed together with the reprocessing of the 2014 seismic so as to enhance the character of the sediment fill below the basalts.
“The delay to the 12B drilling will allow the Joint Venture to optimize their drilling location and to develop a better technical view of prospectivity that is currently partly obscured by the local shallow basalts,” David Mestres Ridge CEO of Swala Energy told Oil news Kenya.
