Today in Egypt, SacOil through its subsidiary Mena International Petroleum has commenced drilling on the Lagia 11 well situated within the Lagia oilfield in Sinai, offshore Egypt.
The Lagia 11 well is part of the phase 2 field development operations which includes five wells (Lagia 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15) aimed at boosting and optimizing production. They are to be drilled with the contracted Petro PDSO land rig, Sham 1.
The wells, aimed for the principal producing reservoir, the Nukhul formation, at approximately 457 metres below mean sea level. According to the company, the five wells have been steamed and allowed to soak for some days in order to heat up the reservoir and reduce the oil viscosity before the commencement of production.
The last program for the operation includes the steaming and thermal recovery of the whole wells in order to accomplish a production rate of 1 000 bpd. In order to achieve efficiency, the company also acquired ten new thermal well heads and tubing sucker rod pumps, specially made to suit the Lagia field conditions. This new equipments are to replace the progressive cavity pumps, Engineering news reports.
