Friday, 18 September 2015 13:16

Nexans S.A. a French company which manufactures copper and optical fiber cable products for the infrastructure, industrial and construction markets, says it has secured a deal to deliver static umbilicals for subsea development of the Taurus and Libra fields as part of BP’s West Nile Delta off Egypt. Sweetcrude reports

The Taurus Libra field is the first development in the West Nile Delta area and is being tied back to the existing West Delta Deep development according to Subsea world news

The supplier is to provide power and fibre-optic cables as well as lines for the transportation of hydraulic and chemical fluids under the contract, for which a value was not disclosed, with deliveries to start next year.

The deal is part of a 10-year framework agreement earlier signed by Nexans with the UK super major.

BP is however developing the subsea fields in a water depth of around 800 metres under the $12 billion project in which it is partnered by Dea, owned by Russia’s LetterOne group.
