Sound Energy has announced that its TE-7 well on the Tendrara licence in Morocco is currently just 10 metres from the targeted reservoir.
According to the company, drilling has reached the third and final casing point at 2,623 metres where the crew has begun setting and cementing a 7” liner into the TAGI shale formation.“The company will now proceed to drill the reservoir to the final target depth,” it said.
Work began in late August and the well is about 1.6 km away from its last site.Upon reaching the intended depth, the drill bit will be directed at an 88-degree angle into the TAGI reservoir to provide a horizontal drain of between 600 and 900 metres.Sound Energy will then move ahead to test the well for 70 days in order to give a comprehensive read-out from TE-7.
A week ago, the company revealed that the Tendrara licence had a multi trillions of cubic feet of gas potential meaning it is an internationally significant discovery.Sound also revealed plans for a third company-drilled well on the site. The third well, will possibly be as far as 30 km north-east of the TE-6, the company’s first drill site. It will check if the well reservoir extends beyond the current identified boundaries.
In June, the company exercised an option to purchase a 55% interest in Meridja, the block close to Tendrara as the two share the same fundamental geology. The exploration and production company also plans to drill on the Sidi Moktar licence, which is near the Atlantic coast in Morocco.
“Tendrara was the first of our three strategic plays in our portfolio at present. We have Badile which is coming up very shortly and we also have Sidi Moktar. Each of those could potentially have three-digit potential for the share price,” Mary Hood, Sound’s chief financial officer, told Proactive Investors.
