Simba Energy together with its farm-in partner Essel Group ME, have decided that the 2D Seismic Data Acquisition and Processing program for Block 2A in Kenya will begin in early May 2016.
According to Simba, preliminary field work and mobilization is expected to begin in mid to late April 2016 prior to the full survey which will cover about 500 line km and the work set is expected to last about 60-75 days then followed by the interpretation of the data.
The company added that a contract has been finalized with Africa Geophysical Services LLC, (AGS) for the purpose of 2D Seismic Data Acquisition and Processing on Block 2A Wajir, in Kenya.
“We are pleased to finalize this contract and to commence the field work to obtain the necessary data. This will allow the Company to plan a drill program later this year,” Robert Dinning, President and CEO of Simba Energy told Oil news Kenya.
The phase 2 of exploration will allow Essel and Simba Energy acquiring an oil drilling rig.
“The drilling process will start as soon as we get a positive seismic result,”Gagan Goel, the Managing Director of Essel and Vice – Chairman of Simba Energy said.
Simba had earlier raised $2.1 million to finance exploration works related to its Production Sharing Contracts in Kenya with the 2D seismic previously set for early this year. Essel also agreed to a lowest exploration program for Block 2A including extra 2D seismic, probable 3D seismic as well as drilling on no less than two prospects in the next 12 to 18 months, with a least estimated cost of $60 million.
