Bowleven on Thursday, announced that subsequent to the installation of testing equipment, the Zingana well, situated on the Bomono Permit in Cameroon, has begun the flow of hydrocarbons.
The extended well testing program at Zingana was aimed at determining the productivity and connectivity of the shallower reservoir units. The units, are anticipated to provide the base for the first supply of gas under a gas-to-power development scheme.
According to Petroleum Africa, the Zingana well situated 20 kilometres north-west of Douala is the first in a two-well exploration program on the Bomono Permit. It targeted a Paleocene (Tertiary) aged three-way dip closed fault block that was partly penetrated by shallow wells drilled in the 1950s. The well was drilled to 1,720 metres measured depth. In November, the second well; Moambe, showed an extreme stabilized flow rate of 7.3 Mmcf/d through a 48/64 choke, thereby showing no sign of exhaustion.
Bowleven is the operator of the Bomono Permit situated in the onshore extension of the Douala Basin with 100% equity. However, Bowleven/EurOil work in partnership with SNH in the activities embarked upon in Cameroon. Meanwhile, Cameroon has the right to back-in for a 10% share of any Bomono development, through SNH.
