In Egypt, Energean Oil & Gas has announced the conclusion of a new 2D seismic survey over the West Baliana interior rift basin North West of the Komombo-Block 3 concession area.
The survey which took 3 months was carried out by Africa Geophysical Services.
The company secured an overall 389 km of 2D seismic data, summing up the total coverage on the block to 2,000 km. This survey was performed prior to the planned drilling of two exploration wells this year.
According to Energean, the incorporated analysis carried out over the Sin El Kaddab interior / Lacustrinal Rift System at the southern part of the concession area, revealed a strong and thick sedimentary structure, deeper than the nearby oil producing Komombo rift system, to some extent.
However, another 16 significant HC structural Leads were also discovered within the Sin El Kaddab sedimentary basin to be established to potential drilling locations after the formerly acquired seismic data by previous operators are reprocessed.
Situated in the South Central Desert in Upper Egypt, the West Komombo block encompasses an area of 20,948 km² and has a geological structure related to the adjacent Al Baraka oil field, where foreign oil firms have been operating and producing hydrocarbons for some years, Energy-pedia reports.
