Savannah Petroleum Plc has announced that it has about to acquire a 3D seismic data on its R3 licence area in south east Niger.
According to the company, one of its subsidiaries has now signed a call-off order. The call-off order will allow the company acquire around 800 km² of 3D seismic data over a portion of Savannah Petroleum's R3 licence area.The company added that the seismic data has beforehand led to an increased number of targets.
In February, Savannah Petroleum entered into an agreement with BGP Niger Sarl for the 2D and 3D seismic data acquisition survey for the R1/R2 and R3/R4 licence areas in south east Niger.“The data acquired will provide enhanced definition over 12 existing mapped exploration targets identified on Savannah's existing 2D seismic dataset. The targets themselves incorporate stacked traps at multiple play levels (the Oligocene Upper Sokor, the Eocene Sokor Alternances and the Upper Cretaceous Yogou formations) which may be evaluated in single exploration wells,” the company said.
It added that the deployment of crew and equipment is expected to begin soon and more updates will be provided as at when due, Energy-pedia reports.
