In Tanzania, Swala Energy and Tata Petrodyne have announced that all measures have been put in place to commence drilling at the Kilosa Kilombero licence in Q3 of 2016 as the recent feasibility study revealed that major roads and bridges are suitable to move a rig.
Swala said that the drilling which has been scheduled for September 2016 is currently in the contracting rig stage and site preparation is estimated to begin in June 2016.
Indeed, the company had granted the Tanzanian subsidiary of AWT International (Asia) Sdn Bhd, the Drill Support Team contract for the 2016 drilling campaign.
According to Swala Energy, 38.9 Mmbo has been allocated to Kilosa-Kilombero with Kito P50 Prospective Resources evaluated at 21.5 Mmbo.
Out of a range of prospects Kito Basal Sandstone and Kito Sequence 1 Sandstone have the maximum probability of success with 11% and 12% respectively. These two prospects were pointed out after a 430km 2D seismic survey performed in the Kilombero Basin in 2013.
Swala is confident of being granted a licence in Uganda from the Karuka-Taitai and Kanywataba licence applications presently in Uganda.
