  • New dashboards will monitor ministries’ results in real time.
  • The reform supports President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
  • Success depends on data reliability and institutional adoption.

During a sectoral retreat in Abuja this week, Secretary to the Government George Akume announced the rollout of digital dashboards designed to monitor in real time the performance of ministries, departments, and public agencies (MDAs). The initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, which prioritizes administrative efficiency and improved public service delivery.

The system is based on key performance indicators set for each MDA, shifting the focus from activity volume to measurable outcomes. Each ministry will now be evaluated using integrated data within these dashboards, intended as tools for transparency, coordination, and accountability. Built on an e-governance and data integration framework, the platform will centralize information needed for ongoing policy evaluation.

“These tools will empower us to make better-informed decisions, track progress ... results effectively to the Nigerian people,” Akume said.

The reform aims to address long-standing challenges such as redundant policies, overlapping mandates, and weak monitoring systems that have limited government effectiveness. Authorities say they intend to replace the traditional model of periodic reporting with continuous, technology-driven management.

However, the system’s success will depend on the ability of MDAs to provide reliable data, adopt the platform effectively, and ensure the political will to use performance results to adjust public policies.
