American car manufacturer Delphi plans to develop in Morocco 7 new projects over the next five years. Agreements for these projects which include the construction of a new plant to manufacture electronic distribution systems, at Meknès’ Agropolis industrial park, and that of a car systems-focused research and development center, were signed on July 4th at the Palace in Casablanca, in the presence of King Mohammed VI.
The various projects should generate 13,000 additional jobs adding to the current 12,000 jobs in Morocco’s three active plants.
Delphi should thus create a total of 25,000 jobs, more than what it generated across the United States (18,900).
The firm which is the first to manufacture cable harnesses landed in Morocco in 1999.
