Ségolène Royal, French Minister for the Environment, airing on RTL today said that Donald Trump did not have the power to write off the Paris climate-change agreement. “Even if he is elected, Donald Trump cannot prevent the implementation of the agreement,” she said some time before results of elections in the US declared Trump president.
During his campaign, US’ new president said he would call off the international climate-change agreement, contesting scientific analyses regarding global warming.
“As I speak, 103 countries have ratified, representing 70% of greenhouse gas emissions. In opposition to what he said, he cannot block the Paris agreement,” said the minister who recalled that the treaty entered into force on November 4, 2016.
