In its Aviation Price Index study, online travel agency kiwi.com ranked Algeria 8th in countries that offer the cheapest flight rates.
To produce the study, Kiwi analyzed the rates of more than a million international and national flights to gather data on 75 countries, with as main criteria, the average cost of a plane ticket for a 100 km distance, in low-cost and full-service.
It thus established that the Algerian traveler spends $9.16 for 100 km on a local low-cost flight and $10.43 full-service. For international flights from Algeria, the traveler spends $5.17 in low-cost and $5.92 in full-service, still over 100 km.
However, despite their relatively good position in the ranking, Algerians are shocked about rates for local flights which cost twice what international flights do, distance standing unchanged.
According to the report, India is the country to offer the cheapest flight rates worldwide, with $2.27/100 km locally, and $3.54/100 km internationally.
