Emirati airport operator Abu Dhabi Airports announced on October 11, it signed with Seychelles’ authorities an agreement to develop and modernise the Mahé international airport.
“Our goal is to help build a passenger terminal which will meet the best international standards,” said president of Abu Dhab Airports, Ali Majed al Mansoori, at a joint press conference with Seychelles’ transport and foreign affairs ministers, Joel Morgan.
“Abu Dhabi will take part in the financing of the project,” Morgan said adding that details about the financing will be given later.
The Abu Dhabi emirati has already invested in various projects in Seychelles. Etihad Airways holds 40% of Air Seychelles capital while the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and State-run group Masdar invested significantly in the country’s renewable energy sector.
