RwandAir plans to start flights to the U.S. in 2019, news website La Tribune Afrique reported on November 10, citing one of the airlines’ official. “RwandAir eyes the US market with a route to New York, if all goes according to plan,” said the carrier’s CEO, John Mirenge.
To insure the Kigali-New York liaison, the public airlines plans to buy a new Airbus A350 XWB plane.
RwandAir announced last month that it planned to open new lines to connect Accra to London (United Kingdom), Mumbai (India) and Gungzhou (China), starting from 2017.
The firm which received in September two A330 Airbus (which it ordered Airbus in 2015) in Toulouse, France, currently serves 19 destinations including Nairobi, Johannesburg, Lagos, Libreville and Brazzaville. Outside Africa, the company flys only to Dubai.
